Beware Sarah the Seller

Written on Fri 17 Aug 2012

We have had reports of a dodgy Seller named Sarah (she uses the names Sarah Broadmoore, Samantha and Sarah Broad).

Her bank account details are:

Secure Trust Bank
Sort Code 23-54-51
Account 01372955

Barclays
Sort Code 20-27-17
Account 60753718

fieldersboys@hotmail.com
mickyautos99@gmail.com
jinkyboyz66@gmail.com
tungyflowers@gmail.com
sugarybabs75@live.com

07531 970 263

She claims to live in Wales, but has tickets to sell for events in London.

We strongly advise you not to pay for tickets by bank transfer, you have no protection if the seller doesn't deliver the tickets. If you cannot meet face to face then find another seller, or ask them to send you the tickets before you pay.

Comments on 'Beware Sarah the Seller'

I was scammed by her last week:
I though she wa a guy.  I insisted on paying via Paypal so she set an account up with themt up with them.  This was for George Michael at the Albert Hall on 29th September.

Posted by Anne marie on 18 Aug 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

I refused to pay by bank transfer and only by paypal, but she said she doesn’t have it anymore and refused to use it. So I said no. But after a few days, she emailed back saying she is setting up her paypal account again…

I am so glad I found this site, but disappointed that this was a scam!

She/he or (most probably) they operate on an industrial scale - there’s hardly a classified website not contaminated by them!
Another bank account for the same people is:

Halifax
Sort Code 11-00-01
Account 08549430

Posted by Starlight on 20 Aug 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

Oh No !!
I can’t believe it , I have been scammed as well.
I put trust in people as many of us do and agreed to send half the money now and the other half when I got the tickets - what a burke !
I am really fed up on so many levels
Her name Sarah (if that is her/his name?) could not meet me so I sent by bank transfer, what happens now ?!
I repeat, I can’t believe it that is twice this happened to me.

I was trying to Purchase tickets for George Michael RAH 29/09, was in contact with a guy called Phillip user Guppa_Border .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address))07845998874 & 07531970263

Wanted me to transfer money to his account, agreed to pay via paypal if he could provide email confirmation. I called his number 4 times over two days and never returned my call, he was apparently working double shifts. When I pulled out he sent me several abusive text messages.

I have another email address what I will add later

Also scammed me under name Penny Smith.
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Got a refund via Paypal but payment was then reversed and I suspect it was because her Paypal account was fake/dodgy. I hate her with a passion and have got a debt collecting agent tracking her down. Another victim who I met via Twitter has got the police involved. I am past the anger re the money (£160) but I so want her to get prosecuted and an appropriate punishment.

Posted by Julian on 21 Aug 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

I feel exactly the same way about them - just want to see them get the punishment they deserve. I also got the police involved about a month ago, but they were very quick to close the case on the grounds no crime was actually committed until the concert date had come (which is about a month from now) and then I still hadn’t received the tickets. They also told me they didn’t have enough resources to track down petty criminals for a couple of hundred pounds. They’ll probably pay more attention if each individual crime case is referenced by crime cases of other victims. I don’t know what the best way would be to exchange this information as I have no doubts the scammers are reading this forum too.

Two more emails they use:

‘Phil’ wanted me to use email address .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on paypal

They are aware of these comments on Scarlet Mist as I get regular text messages from them insulting me. They also suggested we are all lying and they are genuine.

I was provided with details of a Timonthy Morton ‘mortonians@gmail.com’ who they said could prove they were genuine. I emailed Timonthy Morton with no reply.

Wow… We have also been visited by this person over at SwapMyTicket.co.uk. Fortunately we were alerted by a nice lady from this forum, and have now banned them.

IMHO, you should NEVER use Paypal or bank transfer to pay for tickets. We used to, and we got burned… Now we use escrow service Transpact.com, the UK’s premier FSA authorised and regulated payment service, for all of our members, and Sellers don’t get paid until Buyers are happy with their purchase and click a “Make Payment” button on our site.

Using a 3rd party escrow service, where the money is parked until both the Buyer and Seller are happy, and where refunds are actioned with a single click, is really the only was to go. You pay a small fee for the service, but it’s better than getting scammed.

I strongly believe that all these scams are the work of one person, using several different names, mobile phone nos and email addresses.

... and different banks accounts.  He thinks he is clever, he might be but not for long!!

I hope you are right Anne Marie. I believe the net might well be closing in. I’m not resting until justice is done. Would like my money back but will settle for a successful prosecution and appropriate punishment for this vile person who has upset a lot of people.I have numerous emails from “Penny” denying that she is a scammer - despite the fact that she took £160 in January for a June concert and has yet to refund me.

Wants to be paid by bank transfer into one of the above mentioned bank accouts - Secure Trust Bank, Sort Code 23-54-51, Account 01372955 and has given mobile no. 07531 979 263.

Hi another victim here.

Agreed purchase of 2 Tom Petty tix at RAH for 20/6 gig in January..paid by bank transfer to P.Smith at Coop Bank 08-92-88 12061435 after answering an ad on Ebay.

No tickets arrived and no reply to emails to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or to my texts/calls to
07531 970263.

By luck I managed to find another who had been hit by the same person for the same gig and we exchanged details & I reported to West Midlands Police.

Finally got reply from “Penny” saying she would refund on 12/7 but that she had banking issues so could only use PayPal…which was funny as back in Jan she could not use PayPal. Money appeared in PayPal account but 2 days later PayPal advised they were investigating the transaction and 7 days later advised that as they could not raise the sender of the money they we reversing the transfer. Ensuing calls to & emails from PayPal gave us an account .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) which PayPal informed me was under investigation for fraudulent activity.

As soon as the gig date passed, and it was obvious no tickets were coming, I reported this to our local police force..and have an officer currently on the case. He has set a deadline for a refund of 31/8 which Penny has said she will meet…here’s hoping!

For further information which may or may not help - I never actually spoke to Penny, only via text & email. She told me that she was from Dudley West Midlands (which, incidentally is my home town also) and that she was at Glasgow University. I can confirm that the 20-27-17 sort code is a Barclays Branch in Old Hill Cradley heath - I know this as my account is there also…

Good luck to you all in your endeavours here, please do not hesitate to contact me at this blog. If I can be of any assistance I would be happy to help.

Hi Guys

I was also scammed out of £130 please can you all report to http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

A number of us have already reported it, hopefully the more that come forward the more likely we are that the police will take an interest and build a case as they will cross reference all the different bank/email/name details. This person clearly needs to be caught!

Posted by vix5 on 03 Sep 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

So brilliant Scarletmist is back on line..I didn’t realise! Have had many happy gigs from you in the past.

Would NEVER use bank transfer, ALWAYS collect face to face if possible and pay in cash.

Posted by bradycath on 07 Sep 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

Just a quick comment to advise - I am reliably informed that “Penny” has been arrested and is currently “on bail”. This is great news, however, I think it makes the likelihood of refunds less likely, or if they do come, it will not be any time soon. I have been told to watch out for local tv & radio news & newspapers in the near future for further details. Apparently it seems the scale of her activities are even bigger than we imagined, meaning this is not a simple case but one being pursued at CID level. If/when I get a crime number I will pass this onto actionfraud as I am sure they will be interested to liaise with any ongoing investigation.

Would like to say a big thank you to all of you for your input here…I really hope the punishment fits the crime…and that you get “some” satisfaction from it.

Great post Dave. I had written off the money some weeks ago. Would love to be in court for “Penny’s” sentencing. I sent her an email to say I was surprised to hear she had been arrested after her 6 month long insistence that she was not a scammer. Haven’t had a reply yet! Hope they throw the book at her and her vile cronies who have fleeced decent people out of their hard earned cash.

“Penny” attempted to scam me for Download tickets back in May with the address .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Was nearly suckered in but fortunately in my case he/she was just too fishy and my gf tracked down previous scammees with a thorough Googling. Glad to see action finally being taken against the scumbag.

I would like to confirm that this Sarah Broadmore is a scammer. Thankfully paypal recovered the funds before he/she got them.

Jason Morton - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) has the same bank account details.

I fell for him.
£120 for two Muse tickets which I’ll probably never see.

Samantha James - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) is another one.

The reason that made me think something was wrong (a little bit too late, I have to add) was when I tried to buy tickets for a different gig. This second person used the phrase “Let me know by reply and they’re yours”.
That obviously isn’t standard english. I wrote it off as someone who uses broken english, but after seeing that twice, I did some Googling and found this page.

I don’t understand how they could have been bailed if they’ve been tracked down. You’d only need to see those account details to see something was terribly wrong and they’re obviously still doing it.

I have never felt so stupid :( Absolutely gutted. Hope something is done.

Hi all. Here is an email I have received from Graham Warner (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) stating his side of the story following him refunding me via Paypal on behalf of his niece “Penny”. Those that are still owed money ought to email me as he suggests. Good luck! Julian

Thanks for the comments.

I have had a read of this Scarlet Mist ‘thread’ and I must say it is filled with an awful lot of misinformation.  My niece’s name is indeed Penny Smith I can confirm that she is not ‘on bail’ as one upset person has suggested; nor has she ever been in any kind of trouble with any authority.  If you wish to believe that then this is your prerogative.

As is the way these days you will no doubt not inform the ‘thread’ that you have received a refund, just as three other people who have now received their tickets haven’t bothered to update anyone.  If you don’t receive a product you complain, and rightly so.  When you do receive said product you don’t shout from the rafters about receiving it.  Penny has sold dozens of tickets to dozens of happy customers.  One person even made a comment on the site and guess what happened?  It was deleted within minutes.  One sided marches are a thing of the past and I’m sure glad witch hunts were banned…although it seems not in this case.

Your payment will not be reversed by me, nor anyone else.

If you feel anyone else is owed a refund then direct them to me at this email address and I will sort out the situation as best I can.  Without their specific details there is not a lot I can do.

Graham

Julian,

I hope you didn’t believe a word of what this person told you!?

He(Graham Warner, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)) tried to scam me for 4 Muse tickets 2 weeks ago. He sent me the following email after I told him I was aware of this blog:
‘’ ALL of those remarks are from a Mr Shaun Henderson.  He lives in Manchester and is currently on bail (for a 2nd time!) for the constant grief he has been causing (both myself and my family).  It’s not a difficult thing to do to open an email address and ‘report’ someone.  Those reports build and build and before you know it the website will react which creates another open forum for the abuse to continue.  The matter will be concluded next Friday when he is in court.

I don’t blame you for that reaction, but I most certainly am not the ‘scumbag’ you have labelled me as.  This is the third time it’s happened.  People are too quick to judge based on words that anyone can leave.  There bare no base in fact and will hopefully be removed next Friday.

I’ll give you the details of whoever buys these so that you can at least see that I have been unfairly judged.

Graham’‘

As you see, the two emails tell completely different stories. The only thing they have in common is the ridiculously pompous style of the author who apparently thinks very highly of his writing skills.

Just transfer the money from PayPal into your bank account and CLOSE your PayPal account immediately afterwards, if you want to keep the money.

In response to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) - I stand by every word I have written. If “Penny” is such an upstanding citizen, why has she still not refunded me? My police contact told me “s/he” had sent a mail to him stating she has sent a refund by BACS but its still a no-show in my account. By the way, according to “Penny” s/he & I live in the same town….let’s meet up and sort this…I dare you.

UPDATE!
I got my money back…paid into a bank in Lower Gornal in Dudley via a cash input. RESULT!
Also received an email from a VERY contrite “Penny” - That is NOT her name by the way, in fact the tone of the mail leads me to think it was not written by her…I have had enough email traffic from her to recognise her style and this one smells funny!....There are a number of people in this ring and I understand they are all from Dudley West Midlands.
Harborne CID now have the case (they did not even need my info as they enough to go on anyway). If you think you have ben scammed by these people I urge you don’t give in…contact your local police and report and tell them of my case. Also report to http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ the more people who report these people the better. Warn you family, friends tell anyone who will listen beware of these people, they are lower than vermin!

heres the response i received when asking samantha james (who is a hospital administrator - hence why she cant speak on the phone) for a refund on the one direction tickets I ‘purchased’:

‘I must say I find that option both hugely disrespectful to me and a sad shame for your daughter.

I will provide you with the full contact details of whomever purchases these tickets.  This is not to ‘rub salt in’ so to speak, but rather so you can see how very very wrong you gauged this situation and how the only one to really miss out here is your daughter.  I have seen similar tickets to these sell for well over £400 on eBay and Viagogo.  The only reason I sold them at just over face value was because I was in need of a quick sale to re-buy tickets for a more suitable gig date (which I duly did).  More fool me.  I should’ve jumped on the touting band wagon and sold them for a profit.’

I have been promised a refund by today - as yet nothing…..

I have reported this person to various police forces and also am setting up a facebook page as surely there must be a lot more people that have had money fraudulently taken -  the more info we have the better.

in one email ‘Sam’ has stated that 4 posts from happy customers had been removed from this blog - can anyone verify if this is correct please? Would be interested in contacting them also.

the tone in her emails is now getting worse and she feels there is no option but to provide me with the tickets to ‘prove’ that I am 110% wrong about her.

I would like this to end asap as it is becoming detrimental to my health not to mention the £180 that has been paid for tickets that I dont believe I will ever see.

If anyone can help in anyway please feel free to contact me.  thanks

Posted by bonnyboo on 01 Oct 2012      Report abuse or inappropriate comments

Bonnyboo we removed a post here that was apparently from happy customers of Sarah/Sam.

However we did notice that it came from a buyer who had not bought anything from Sarah/Sam - and hadn’t bought anything else through Scarlet Mist come to that - and we assumed that Sarah/Sam had written it themselves as it came from the same IP address.

If you would like Scarlet Mist to promote your Facebook page then please let us know.

Currently buying two Tenacious D tickets through Paypal…will update with a comment here if I get them. They apparently have been on ebay, with pictures which helps a bit in the authenticity department.

I think Paypal is a realtively safe option of payment, but you are your own best advisor for whether you think something’s authentic or not. If on Gumtree for example, look for adverts which have candid pictures of the tickets.

Don’t be put off by scammers, but at the same time, read the advert description a few times before deciding to commit to it.

I guess I’ve probably had the same issue - paid £390 for 6 Muse tickets for the concert on the 26 Oct…Apparent name was Phillip and user name was Guppa_Border (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).  Phone numbers were 07845998874 & 07531970263….I’ve also raised the issue with actionfraud and am speaking to them tomorrow.  Is there anything else we can do?  There seems to be a lot of evidence building up about this person in any case, and I’d assume they are pretty stupid to think they’ll get away with it

I’ve been in email communication with Sam up to the Muse gig and since then.  Even a week before the show she was claiming that she still hadn’t received the tickets.
I kind of figured we were never going to see them and let the show pass before asking for a refund. Since then I’ve had every excuse under the sun – need to get paid, need to wait for the funds to be refunded to me, wrote down the wrong sort code etc. When she asked for a paypal account I finally put my foot down and haven’t heard from her since. I’ve now run out of patience and am going to be providing all the email contact and email header information to the police.
